As long as you have an electric mixer (or super strong arms), you should never buy whipped cream from a jar or package again. It is so simple to make and you cut down on a ton of fats, sugar and oil if you do it yourself.
My family’s recipe for whipped cream is just three ingredients!
1 pint (2 cups) whipping or heavy cream
1/4 cup sugar (can add more or less to suit your tastes)
1 tablespoon vanilla
- Stick a large metal bowl and your whisk attachment in the freezer for at least 15 minutes to chill.
- Pour about 1/2 cup of cream in the bowl, whisk it to get it started. Start slow and increase the speed to avoid splatter.
- Add in sugar and vanilla. Whisk some more.
- Pour in the rest of the cream.
- Whisk until fluffy.
The only downside to homemade cream is that if it sits for a while, it will reliquify. If that happens, just break out the whisk and breathe some new life into it. But it’s so good, I doubt it will even last that long.
