I’m not Jewish, so the first time I tried challah bread was in college when my roommate purchased some (and we smuggled into the movies by pretending she was pregnant.)
It was so good, the next time I returned home I tried to make it myself.
The recipe I use, posted on Allrecipes, has made it to a few family Christmas gatherings. And tonight won’t be any different.
As I sit down with my family for Christmas eve dinner, we’ll break bread with challah, and I’ll think of all my Jewish friends doing the same with their families as they celebrate Hanukkah.
